ECO-TRADE HAITI, INC. a SIMACT company

Deforestation is a by-product of poverty mixed with a virtual lack of an enforceable environment policy by the government. To date, usage of trees for charcoal production has caused severe soil erosion with no immediate solution in sight. As part of SIMACT commitment to help in the rebuilding of Haiti, a project designed to import combustible woods and wood products is being implemented. It is a promising alternative, one that surely will help in protecting the environment.

As a bi-national company, SIMACT is well suited to be an important player in the implementation of such a project. The first shipment was well received by a selected number of Haitian businessmen with whom the SIMACT board of directors want to establish good business relationship. After all, SIMACT's mission is to create a bridge of mutual collaboration between the diaspora and the homeland. Additionally, other areas of trade such as frozen food items are under serious consideration.

SIMACT FINANCE, INC.

Given the wide range of the company's business activities, it is important to be part of the financial sector in Haiti. To that end, the company is engaged in intense negotiations to obtain a substantial number of shares in one of the oldest banking institutions in Haiti. Discussion is on-going. An agreement is expected soon.

SIMACT FOUNDATION, INC.

The philanthropic arm of the company, SIMACT Foundation Inc, is up and running. The construction of more than a kilometer of public roadway without government financial support is a clear indication of our socially conscious investment philosophy. While the ultimate goal of an investment is to make substantial monetary profits, the humanitarian rewards sometimes make the risks worth taking. Knowing that several lives have been uplifted as a direct result of investing in one's community is a fringe benefit that is self-fulfilling and priceless.

SIMACT, among other things, has sponsored the Summer 2006 soccer program in Jacmel and donated an ambulance to the Red Cross organization of that city. Twelve computers were made available through the Ministry of Haitians living abroad to various educational facilities in Cite Soleil.  Presently, the SIMACT board of directors has approved the sponsorship of a medical externship program for young Haitian medical school residents to travel to America for a rotation in specialty services at a New York City hospital. More importantly, SIMACT is considering a much ambitious humanitarian project, the total renovation and expansion of the existing Jacmel Hospital.
